Pliers
These have a parallel action and a rectangular head. They allow the cube containing the sample to be polished both mechanically and manually (without polishing one's fingers!), whilst ensuring that the sample itself is not polished away as it remains protected within the pliers' head.

Hand-held microscope
Available in both 50x and 25x.

A compact and lightweight stand microscope. (diameter: 41.5mm; height: 122mm; field of view: 2mm.) It has excellent optical properties and very good brightness allowing for use in good daylight without extra lighting. Its focus action is very smooth. It enables the operator to examine the basic layer structure within the cross section and to determine whether polishing has reached an acceptable stage. It can be used to examine the area to be sampled, but is not appropriate for working under magnification. It also includes a graticule.

Cutting saw
An ergonomically shaped saw for removing the bulk of the excess block before polishing.

Micromesh polishing cloths
These are ordinary abrasive crystals bonded within a soft resilient material which allows the crystals to flex and depress in order to seek a common working level. This creates a planing action, and as crystals cannot be pushed deeply into the surface of the EasySections they polish rather than abrade it. Micromesh can be used either wet or dry. The abrasive will not lead up as the abraded particle is smaller than the crystals. Abraded particles lying on the surface of the Micromesh can be removed by rinsing with water or by slapping the cloth on a hard surface.

Micromesh is supplied in packs with 8 grades of crystal. Each cloth can be supplied with a Velcro backing to enable it to be used on any 'velcroed' surface. The packs also include 2 grades of ordinary wet and dry paper in order to allow for removal of excess material where necessary.

Other grades, and circular forms for polishing wheels can also be supplied with or without Velcro backing.

Mixing beakers and sticks
10ml solvent resistant polypropylene measuring beakers.

Fine mixing sticks which also act as droppers for the mixed resin.
